A Great Day

Last week our family had a family day and it was one of the best days I've had in China. Here's how it went down.

First we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. (For our family here in China, Pizza Hut is a high class meal.) We got stuffed crust pepperoni pizza and it was phenomenal. The kids had a great time and so did Heather and I.

After lunch we walked to a garden area near downtown and the kids climbed and played on a large rock. Quality stuff when you live in China. And of course, we gathered a large crowd of Chinese. Technically the rock was off-limits, so when the guard came by we (and our 20 or so spectators) dispersed.

Then we walked along the river where there's another garden. Honestly it was a beautiful area that we had a great time exploring. It's definitely a place we will try to go back to to have a picnic. We found out that the river that runs through this park is from a natural spring and in the summer time kids swim in it. (Not totally sure if the kid's swimming in it is true. It's fun to dream though.)

Then after dinner we had a bonfire in our backyard. It was one of the best bonfires we've had (they usually suck and reflect my poor outdoor survival skills). It was a nice blaze that we cooked marshmallows over. Our wonderful day was wrapped with a bow when my wife made the kids all cups of hot chocolate.

much love,
the petersons

P.S. If you know of more fun things to do in Xining please leave a comment about what it is:)
