It’s been too long since our last post, I’m sorry and I hope that this post makes up for it. It’s hot here in Xian, I mean really hot. How is it where you are? How has your summer been?
Well last week I got to hang out with my good friend Lawrence and it might be one of the last times we see each other (in Xian). He is continuing his studies by going to school in Beijing. I’m really excited for him, but at the same time I know it will become a lot harder to see him (I guess Beijing is more than a few bus stops away from my apartment). We had a super good time together saying goodbye and I will miss his friendship, but hope to see him whenever I head up to Beijing. Thanks brother for being a good friend to me!
Here’s a little taste of what we did for our July 4th party. It was a super fun day, we celebrated as a family along with Dan and our good friend Andrea. Heather cooked up burgers and fries for lunch… so good… and we had Jello for desert (thanks Andrea!). For dinner we had Fajitas (thanks again Andrea!) and brownies for desert. It was quite wonderful. One funny moment from the day was when Heather started a grease fire while cooking the burgers. I literally heard her repeatedly shriek “Matt” 150 times in the span of 10 seconds (it sounded a bit like this “MATTMATTMATTMATTMATTMATTMATT”). Luckily, I was able to grab the frying pan from her hand and after another 10 seconds blow out the last remaining flames.
Oh, also, I almost forgot to mention that today is our 3 year anniversary since coming to Xian!!!! What’s crazy to me is how fast it’s gone by. When we first got here it was a celebration with each month that passed. And now every once in a while Heather and I will just stop and realize how much time has passed without us even really noticing. Here’s to our next three years! ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing about your trip to Xining. You have to eat at one of the tents that they set up on the side of the street. The noodle soup, the skerwed meat, and the small round bread that is spiced and warmed over the coal is amazing!
