Home Study Complete

So last week I mentioned that we were going to have our home study. Well we did. And we passed!

It feels good to have this step behind us and know that we're one step closer to Lily being ours forever.

I will also say this, the process was exhausting... The first night our case worker was here we spent 2 1/2 hours going over paperwork and the process of adopting Lily. The next morning Heather and I were interviewed together for 4 1/2 hours and the questions weren't "what's your favorite color?" but rather "what would it take for you guys to get a divorce?" and "what are your arguments like?". Super energizing topics to tackle.

That afternoon both Heather and I were interviewed separately for 1 1/2 hours each. And again more energizing questions. Then on the last day our case worker walked around our house to check the safety of it and chatted with our kids. Afterwards our case worker told us that Sydney told her we spank her all the time... To which we said we haven't spanked her in years and then our case worker added that Sydney also said that its been two years since we spanked her. Finally we had a 3 hour long training on adoption. It was really helpful to get more advice and insight into parenting an adopted child.

Where does this leave us? Well we still are collecting a lot of paperwork and the process is far from complete. But for right now we have the home study behind us and that feels good.
