Home School and Teaching English

So we're officially through 5 1/2 weeks of our kid's homeschooling curriculum. This is the first year that we've been teaching all three of our girls. And as overwhelming as it seemed leading up to it, it has turned out to be really good so far. I've enjoyed continuing to see Sydney grow in her reading, something that only a couple years ago seemed impossible to me. Aubrey and Lily are also getting into the groove and each day their reading and counting get better.

As most of you know I teach English here in China. This helps us with our finances and provides visas for our family. Anyways, we started back up a few weeks ago and this past weekend as I was teaching I started flipping through my teacher's book. I noticed some notes from a Chinese teacher that had previously used my book and in it was a game idea. It made me smile like an idiot. Here's the game.

Missing Letter
"What are the missing letters, if you are right I will give your group a start. If you are wrong this boy will be killed."

Reading this brought a smile to my face.

I'm continuing to practice for my Chinese driver's license test. The questions are not the easiest to understand and answer. Here's an example of a question:

Driver because military service abroad (Habitat) and other reasons can not drive a motor vehicle extended testing period. True or False?

Much Love,

  1. Hangman is a bit barbaric, isn't it?

Good luck on the driver's test- I don't even know what that is asking, much less what the answer is! (I write tests for a living, and many are translated. We use back translation to try to avoid issues like the one above!)
