Last week of the semester and looking ahead

Well I’m just about to wrap up my first full semester of teaching. Outside of H1N1 and some minor confusions (like me showing up for work, then finding out I didn’t need to work that day, but no one called to tell me) it’s been an amazing and fun growing experience. I really enjoy getting to not only teach these kids, but share with them my life. One of my hopes in teaching them is that I would be able to show them that they are valued. It amazes me that in Chinese culture hugging is not often done, but as soon as I arrive to class they will come up and wrap their arms around me. I’m glad to have some weeks off (with the Chinese New Year) to focus on some other things (like traveling, family and Chinese), but when the next semester starts I will be ready to go again. Thanks kids for an amazing semester (some of my students and fellow teachers are now signed up to this blog!).

We’re also looking ahead to our trip (in a little over a week) to Hong Kong. We have the pleasure of getting to kick it with my step Father Ron whom we haven’t seen since leaving the States (a year and a half ago). I really can’t believe we’re gonna get to do this and we’re all really looking forward to it. Not to mention Hong Kong is amazing city and will be fun to be there again.

Also, we’re looking forward to my brother and his family returning February 4th (on a side note I was teaching my students the months of the year and sheepishly had to look down each time so as not to spell February wrong). Between Hong Kong and my brother’s family returning I might just pass out from excitement….. ummmm, what just happened? I just woke up lying on the floor.

I’m going to leave you with a reason to come back… I found out I will be going on a once in a lifetime trip next month. I’m waiting for details to be confirmed before announcing it, but stop back in to see what it will be. Also, look for a pregnancy update later this week.

Well that’s it for now.
